Effective Field Goal Percentage, aka eFG%, is a player or team evaluation metric that measures the effectiveness of 2-point shots and 3-point shots.
Effective Field Goal Percentage Formula=[(All Field Goals Made) + 0.5*(3P Field Goals Made)]/(All Field Goal Attempts)
In terms of FG% and eFG%, two players can be compared. Two players with the same FG% should not be evaluated as they have the same performance. When you bring eFG% on the table, you’ll find out that the player who had more three-point shots would have a better eFG%.
