Gravity in the NBA

Gravity is a new generation metric used in the NBA to quantify the estimated level of attention drawn by a player from the defenders around him based on floor spacing.

Beginning with the 2025-26 season, the NBA has been publishing gravity stats. Gravity is broken down into two parts:

On-Ball Gravity: The attention level a player draws when he dribbles the ball.
Off-Ball Gravity: The attention level a player draws when he runs around screens or spotting up without the ball.
