Offseason Projects #2 Analytics 101 |
Monday, 30 June 2008 |
I'm excited to announce the very new stuff called "Analytics 101" on NBAstuffer.com. The idea is simple: Help people get the whole basketball analytics in one source. I've tried to make it easy for everyone to understand terms and formulas. Entries don't go that deep and often paraphrased from the original authors and wikipedia I couldn't decide on allowing people submit new terms because of formatting issues. Currently the analytics glossary has 35-40 terms under 3 main categories but I hope it gets larger in a short time. I'm open to receive your thoughts about the project.

Eddie F. Rush's Interesting Stat |
Thursday, 29 May 2008 |
Isn't it an interesting stat that when Eddie F.Rush officiates a NBA playoff game, home teams win the game with a .900 probability? The only game where road team has beat the home team is on 20th April, Philly beat Detroit. (90-86)
Since then, the home teams are 9-0 when Eddie Rush is the head referee. He also leads the referees in calling fouls against the road teams (54.1% of his fouls were called against road teams so far). These stats can be found under the "Fouls Per Game" tab on the "Referee Stats" section.
Maybe it's not interesting, home teams have dominated the 2008 playoffs, so we can say there's nothing new, but I think the NBA is aware of this situation and Eddie Rush has been assigned to the most critical games for home teams. (for example Game 3 of San-Lal series, Game 3 of of Was-Cle series, etc.)
